Parable of the Ten Virgins
What, then, should we liken the kingdom of heaven to?
I tell you the kingdom of heaven shall be compared to ten virgins,
who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
Now, five of them were foolish, and five of them were wise.
The foolish ones took their lamps, but they took no oil with them.
Whereas the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.
Now, the bridegroom was a long time in returning,
and all the virgins became drowsy and fell asleep.
At midnight, the cry rang out, behold the bridegroom come out and meet him...
then all the virgins woke up, and they trimmed their lamps,
and the foolish said to the wise, “Give us some of your oil, for lamps are going out,”
but the wise replied, “No, there may not be enough for both us and you.
Go instead to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.”
But while they were on their way to buy oil,
the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with Him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut!
Afterward, the other virgins came also saying
“Lord, Lord, open to us.”
But He answered, “Truly, I say unto you I do not know you,”
therefore, keep watch for you know not the hour or the day the Son of Man returns
Therefore, keep watch beware; you know not the hour or the day
Therefore, keep watch beware; you know not the hour or the day
Therefore, keep watch beware you know not the hour or (Matt. 25:1-13)
